Grotowski takes the practical entry exams at Państwowa Szkoła Aktorska (the State Acting School). Grotowski receives one B grade (vocals), two C grades (gesture and expression) and one D grade (diction; his poor grade was a result of a speech impediment).

For his essay ‘W jaki sposób może się teatr przyczynić do budowy socjalizmu w Polsce?’ (‘In what way can the theatre contribute to the building of socialism in Poland?’) Grotowski receives an A grade and is accepted to study at the school.
