Revolutionary Youth Union

[Rewolucyjny Związek Młodzieży – RZM], political organisation of the young and radically anti-Stalinist left established in November 1956. It called for the democratisation of political life, including pluralism of youth organisations. Under pressure from the authorities, it was incorporated into the Union of Socialist Youth [Związek Młodzieży Socjalistycznej – ZMS] created in January in 1957. Grotowski was one of the most important RZM activists and created its ideological programme. As a member of the Temporary Central Committee of the ZMS he attempted to ensure that the new Union would continue the line of RZM.
