Paluchiewicz Andrzej
born 12 January 1943 in Skarżysko-Kamienna; actor and photographer. Between 1962 and 1966 he collaborated with the Student Mime Theatre ‘Gest’. From January 1966 to October 1976 he was an artistic employee of the Actors’ Institute – Laboratory Theatre. In the fifth version of Akropolis (premiere 17 May 1967), which was also filmed, he played four characters: Lady, Rachela, Hecuba and Aurora. He was also a member of the group working on Ewangelie (The Gospels; open rehearsals 20 March 1967). From 1973 he participated in the Theatre’s paratheatrical activities in Brzezinka near Wrocław, the USA, France, Italy and Australia. During this period he photographed both Jerzy Grotowski’s work and his life outside art, as well as documenting the Laboratory Theatre company. He possesses a unique series of photos documenting that period. Most of them have never been presented publicly. He also documented his life as an actor during his travels around Poland and the world, including visits to Holland, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, the USA, Mexico and Australia. In 1977 he left for Switzerland, where he lives to this day. He has worked as a photojournalist and created both book covers and advertisement photographs. Paluchiewicz has presented his photographic works in Poland, Sweden, Italy and the USA.
